January 20-24: Here's what you need to know from Indiana Borough this week.


It's going to be cold this week! Indiana County will have a number of warming centers for anyone needing warmth this week.


Indiana Free Library and the Chevy Chase Community Center will offer warming centers for our residents.

The following projects (weather permitting) will be in progress:


  • Gas Line Installation

    • January 23 - January 28: Chestnut St. (7th St. & Carpenter Ave.)

    • January 27 - January 29: Chestnut St. (6th St. & Carpenter Ave.)

  • Storm Sewer Repair

    • January 16 - January 28: S. 16th Street (Gompers Ave. & Philadelphia St.)

    • January 16 - January 28: Long Ave. (Gompers Ave. & Philadelphia St.)

  • Christmas Tree Collection - complete as of 1/17/2025


Our offices will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025 in observation of Martin Luther King Day.


On Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 7PM, the Pubic Works and Administration Committees will meet. The meeting will be held in the Indiana County Courthouse Annex Building, 827 Water St, Indiana, PA 15701. For meetings, please enter through the front door. This meeting is open to the public and all interested citizens are encouraged to attend (in-person) and/or participate during public comment. See the full meeting calendar here.


Coffee With Comms is back this week! Eden will be at Sit N' Stay from 8:30-9:30AM on Friday, January 24, 2025. Warm up with a hot drink and ask any Borough-related questions.


Internship & Scholarship Opportunities


College Students

Indiana Borough is seeking interns for summer / fall 2025! We're proud to offer internships for college-aged students within our Planning, Wastewater Treatment and Communications Departments. If you, or someone you know, is looking for an opportunity in the public sector, please share these opportunities and have them send an email to contact-us@indianaboro.com.


PA House Fellowship Program - for undergraduate juniors and seniors, graduate students, and law school students attending Pennsylvania colleges or universities, or Pennsylvania residents attending out-of-state schools. The summer application deadline is March 1, 2025.

High School Students

Pennsylvania House of Representatives Scholarship - provides four-year scholarships to two high school seniors per year.


PSATS Scholarship - Four $1,500 scholarships are available to high school juniors and seniors: two Local Government Achievement scholarships and two Academic Achievement scholarships. Due January 31, 2025.


John A. Garner, Jr. Civic Engagement Scholarships - The school counselor selects the applicant. Applicants must be high school seniors who are residents of the Commonwealth.
